Applying from within Japan

Borderlink actively recruits from within Japan, and we have a support-system in place for newly hired ALTs. Our domestic recruitment for spring positions is held throughout January and February for April and May start positions, although we do recruit throughout the year.

1. Application Process

We encourage anyone interested in becoming an ALT to complete
the application form that is located on our website.

2. Interview Process

Candidates who pass the first screening will be contacted for
an interview at one of our offices.

3. Placement and Training

There will be a training session at our office prior to placement, and periodic training sessions throughout the year.
We do our best to match the placement requests of applicants when determining placement.

Renewal and Advancement

Most of our ALTs stay with us for a few years. In fact, teachers with good performance who are interested in renewing their contract are encouraged to do so.
We pride ourselves in supporting good teachers, through professional development and advancement through our Area Manager Program.

Requirements for applying are as follows:

  • Valid visa that permits work
  • Native-level speaker of English
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 12 years of education with English being the medium of instruction
  • A team player who enjoys working with students of varying ages

Desired, but not required

  • Japanese ability
  • Teaching experience
  • Teaching qualifications
    (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, licensure, etc.)
